Hey guys. I was finally able to get to the track and get some passes down. I actually went 2 weeks ago, but it was a mob scene since it was opening night. I only got two passes down and they sucked bad.
Last night was a bit better, still really crowded but I was able to get 4 passes down. First pass out I went 13.06@ 112 with a 2.1 60' on street tires. The track prep is less than desireable so I was friggin shocked to see my time when I came back around. I started having some issues with the 2 step so my 60's got worse during the next three runs. (2.2~2.3) My last 3 passes were 13.28 @ 112, 13.96@ 112 and 13.62 @ 112. The car was running pig rich for the most part since I haven't had time to really devote any time to tuning with the 650's and new ecu/chip combo. I've finally got the Aeromotive installed with -6 from the rail to the regulator, but I still need to finish installing the line from the pump to the rail. Here's a link to my Time Slip and another to some new pics of my car. Pics page One of my buddies that went with shot some video, so hopefully I can have something up in the next few days or so. |

Thanks man. I'll tell ya what. I made that pass and the car felt pretty damn good, but I didn't think that I had knocked that much time off.
What's interesting is that some of the other 16G cars that're trapping around 112 are cutting e.t's between 12.6x and 12.8x with 1.8~ 1.9 short times. I was launching off the #1 stutter (3750rpm's), but slipping the hell out of the clutch once it felt like it was starting to break loose. The suspension updates have made the car a different animal now, and I'm able to launch it as hard as I dare on street tires with no wheelhop, but all thru 1st and 2nd I'm just peddling it to try and maintain traction. Once it hooks up, the bitch just pulls like there's no tomorrow. You are definitely right; I do need to quit fucking around and make a few passes on slicks. Still, for what it's worth, I'm happy as hell.. I cannot complain about a 40 mile round trip daily driver that still gets 27+mpg. |

Congrats on the numbers. I imagine with slicks and a good 60 it would run low 12's.

Thanks Wrick, I'd sure like to think I could go that fast.
Considering how long I've actually had the car, and to think that I'm just now REALLY starting to get it where I wanted it to be 4 years ago. Again, I can't really even complain about the whole time thing, since for the past 5+ years I've just been fucking around and getting by with what little I could afford to throw into her. (the million mile 14B is prime example of that..) Bills and family have always taken a bit out of the racing fund. Now that I actually have the extra money to buy decent parts and spare the time to tune and get to the track, I'm starting to have fun driving my car again. As we all know, the Big 16G isn't shit when it comes to the other turbo's that are available, but I'm pretty sure that if I start using my setup to it's potential, I'll see the car go much faster. The 16G isn't coming off till I see at least a 117mph trap. I'm positive that I can pick up 5mph, since I've been looking back at my logs from those runs and I'm realizing how rich my car was running at only 20 psi. (Timing was a bit low from some rich knock.) My timing is tons better now with the new ecu, and I've got the fuel system to support the turbo at higher boost. I just got another new eprom chip from KeyDiver with some improved mid-upper range timing maps, and a few other tweaks so I need to tune for that before I head to the track again. I'm going to start shopping for slicks soon, but I really don't know what size I should go with. (13's or 15's) I can go with either a 24.5/8.0-13 on a set of Bogart's or a 24.5/8.0-15. Other than that, my choices are pretty limited, unless I go with something like a Hoosier Drag Radial (225/50-16) I'd really like to try and stay as close to the stock tire diameter as possible, and seeing as there is no way I can fit a 26" tall slick on my car.... Whitey; Any input on a slick size that I may want to look into? (obviously the 22/8.0-15 is out of the question.) |

Paul,
There are alot of options nowadays for slicks. Hell even Nitto and Toyo (same company) are coming out with slicks |

When it comes down to what I can actially fit on the car, my options are pretty limited.
I really wish that BFG would release the DR in 225/50-16 so I could roll them on the street, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. If I was looking for something in the 26" range I would be set, but for anything around 24~24.5" OD, I'm really limited. MT is looking to be my only real option at the moment for a full blown slick. I'm swaying more towards something in the 14~15" range just because I really don't have the extra money to drop on Bogart's, which I would need to run a 13" slick. |
